Welcome

This website is for the course Experimental Mathematics Sage taught by Yaé Ulrich Gaba and Evans Doe Ocansey.

On the left you should see the links to the following pages.

  • Daily lectures: A brief summary of what went on in class and exercises related to what we did and what we will be possibly doing next time.

  • Homework: Contains a list of all handed-in homework problems and their due dates.

  • Resources: All kinds of Sage-related resources will be placed here.

  • Restricted resources: These are some copyrighted materials we will be using for the course. Please DO NOT distribute any of them outside of AIMS South Africa.

  • Interact competition: See the interact competition page for more details.

Our focus for the next three weeks will be the following.

  1. Try to be more experimental in our inquiry about our mathematics.

  2. Learn to use Sage as a tool for computation and experimentation.

  3. Learn how to write mathematical proofs.

We hope you will enjoy the course.

ask questions.

  • We hope programming can be enjoyable and creative. Hopefully solving problems, making plots and presenting data can be interesting.
